The Coach Behind ATP

I Got Into This
Because Teens Deserve Better.

When I started coaching, I kept seeing the same thing: talented, motivated young people walking into weight rooms with zero real guidance. School coaches doing their best, YouTube videos filling the gap, parents hoping for the best. And kids getting hurt, burning out, or never reaching what they were truly capable of.

That bothered me. It still does.

I've spent over 30 years and 35,000+ hours learning what actually works for developing young athletes — not just physically, but mentally. Strength training done right doesn't just build muscle. It builds discipline, confidence, and resilience that carries into every part of a teen's life.

I've trained over 1,000 people, ages 9 to 95 — from kids who had never touched a weight to athletes who went on to set 16 New York State and 5 National Powerlifting Records. I've watched shy, uncertain teens walk out of training sessions standing taller. That never gets old.

I don't run a factory. I don't do cookie-cutter programs. Every athlete I work with gets a plan built specifically for them — their sport, their goals, their starting point. Whether your teen is a competitive athlete chasing a scholarship or a kid who just wants to feel stronger and more confident, they belong here.

"I coach because I love it. This isn't a business to me — it's a calling."

— Coach Michael Wohltmann

My methods are grounded in the highest-level certifications in the industry, and sharpened by mentorship under Charles Poliquin, one of the most respected strength coaches who ever lived. But what I'm most proud of isn't the records or the credentials — it's the teens I've watched grow into healthy, capable, confident adults.

His programs helped me excel in football, lacrosse, and track & field. Under his guidance I broke three New York State AAU Powerlifting records at 15, and another three at 18. My 40-yard dash time also improved tremendously — he helped me clock in at 4.57 seconds as a senior.

I trained under Michael for over five years. I saw enormous leaps in strength, size, and confidence. I went from a decent wrestler with a 21-9 record to going undefeated 41-0 my senior year, breaking the all-time wins record for Rye High School.

Coach Michael was a mixture of a mentor and friend. He taught me how to live and eat healthy and be stronger. I started working out with him in 6th grade and continued through much of high school. He changed my life in more ways than just the gym.

My parents signed me up with Coach Michael when I was in 6th grade. He tailored the workouts to the sport I was playing at that time — which I truly believe helped develop me into a better overall athlete. He genuinely cares about your progress.

What Does It
Actually Cost?

ATP is professional-level coaching — the same caliber you'd expect from a Division I program, delivered directly to your teen. Here's how to think about the investment.

Budget Apps
$10–30
Generic templates.
No coach. No accountability.
No adjustments.
ATP
Expert Coaching
Custom
Built for your teen.
Real coach. Real results.
Real accountability.
In-Person PT
$200+/wk
High cost. Limited sessions.
Location dependent.
Hard to scale.
Every ATP program includes:
Fully custom training program — built for your teen specifically
Video instruction for every exercise — no guessing on form
Nutrition coaching included — not an add-on
Progress tracking via app — stay on top of results
Direct access to Coach Michael — real answers, not automated responses
Program adjustments as your teen grows and improves
Balanced programming to reduce common injury patterns — not ego-driven max lifts
2 live FaceTime sessions per month (30 min each) — coaching, Q&A, or live workout guidance
Video form review — upload clips for Coach Michael to critique technique directly

Honest answer on cost: ATP sits between a budget fitness app and full-time in-person training — closer to the latter in quality, significantly more accessible in price. Programs are available month-to-month or at a lower rate on a 3-month commitment — the timeframe where athletes consistently see the biggest breakthroughs. After completing 3 months, athletes continue at a preferred loyalty rate. The best way to get a specific number is a quick, no-pressure conversation with Coach Michael.

Honest & Upfront

Is ATP Right
for Your Teen?

ATP isn't for everyone — and that's intentional. Coach Michael works with a limited number of clients at a time to make sure every teen gets real, focused attention. That means being selective about who joins.

ATP Is a Great Fit If...
Your teen is ready to work
They don't have to be experienced — but they have to be willing. Effort is the only requirement we can't teach.
You want real coaching, not just a plan
Parents who are invested in the process — not just the outcome — get the most out of this program.
Your teen is open to nutrition guidance
Training and nutrition work together. Teens who embrace both see dramatically better results than those who ignore one half of the equation.
Beginner or elite — you belong here
Starting point doesn't matter. Attitude does. Coach Michael has built champions from scratch and taken elite athletes further than they thought possible.
ATP Is NOT a Fit If...
Your teen isn't that interested
If a teen is only here because a parent signed them up and they have zero interest, the program won't work. Buy-in has to come from the athlete, even if the push comes from home.
You're looking for a babysitting service
This is real coaching with real expectations. Parents are partners in the process — not passengers. The teens who thrive here have support at home, not just on the app.
Your teen has an uncoachable attitude
Coaching requires trust and respect — it goes both ways. Teens who resist feedback, dismiss guidance, or bring a negative attitude don't get results and aren't a good fit for this environment.
You want the cheapest option available
There are cheaper programs out there. ATP is an investment in expert, individualized coaching — the kind that produces real, lasting results. If price is the only factor, this probably isn't the right fit.

Not sure if you're a fit?
Just ask. There's no pressure either way.

Frequently Asked
Questions

Don't see your question here? Ask Coach Michael directly →

How does online training actually work? +

It's simpler than most people expect. After an initial conversation to understand your teen's goals, sport, fitness level, and available equipment, Coach Michael builds a fully customized training program delivered through an easy-to-use app.

The app shows every exercise with video demonstrations so form is never a guessing game. Your teen logs their workouts, tracks progress, and Coach Michael reviews everything — adjusting the program as they improve. You can message directly through the app with questions at any time.

Think of it as having an expert coach in your corner, accessible from anywhere — without the commute.

Do I need a gym membership to do this program? +

No — and this is one of the biggest advantages of the program. Coach Michael designs every plan around the equipment your teen actually has access to, whether that's a full gym, a home setup with a few dumbbells, or something in between.

If your teen does have gym access, great — we'll make the most of it. If not, an effective program can absolutely be built around home equipment. The goal is to meet your teen where they are and build from there.

Is this program for beginners or only serious athletes? +

Both — and everyone in between. Coach Michael has trained teens who had never touched a weight and teens who went on to set national records. The program is built specifically for your teen's starting point, not a template designed for someone else.

If your teen is a beginner, the focus starts with building safe, solid fundamentals — proper movement, form, and confidence. If they're a competitive athlete pushing for the next level, the program reflects that intensity. There's no one-size-fits-all here.

What ages do you work with? +

The ATP program is designed primarily for teens and collegiate-age athletes — typically ages 12 through 22. That said, Coach Michael has trained clients from age 9 all the way to 95 over his career, so if you have a younger athlete or an adult who's interested, don't hesitate to reach out and ask.

For younger teens especially, the approach is age-appropriate — focused on movement quality, body awareness, and building a positive relationship with training that will serve them for life.

What if my teen plays multiple sports? +

That's actually where this program shines. Most generic training plans are built for one sport — or no sport at all. Coach Michael has decades of experience working with multi-sport athletes and understands how to build a program that supports performance across all of them without overtraining or interfering with practice schedules.

The program also evolves with the sports calendar — adjusting intensity and focus based on what season your teen is in, whether they're in-season, off-season, or transitioning between sports.

How much does it cost? +

Pricing depends on the type of program and level of coaching that's the right fit for your teen. Rather than a one-size-fits-all rate, Coach Michael takes the time to understand what you're looking for before recommending a plan — so you're only paying for what makes sense for your situation.

The best first step is a quick, no-pressure conversation. Send a message or book a free 15-minute call and Coach Michael will walk you through the options.
